Hello dear reader!
On taking the leap
You’ve become your own boss and your family and friends are aware of it. They believe that now you have more flexibility in terms of your work timings (this will be especially true if you are a freelancer). So, they expect you to turn up for every social commitment.
But note this: Just because you CAN attend 100% of your social commitments, doesn’t mean you HAVE to.
Because social invites sometimes come unexpectedly or end up stretching beyond the time you expect to get home, you will start feeling stressed to get all your work done.
Learn to respectfully say this magic word: ‘No’. Your social circle will get used to not seeing you sometimes.
This will help you truly become your own boss!
On mindfulness
On the flip side, don’t get so engrossed in your work that you forget to check on your family and friends. You may feel like your work has become your baby and you need to give it all your attention.
But there are people who would be happy to get a call from you once in a while. These people root for you to be successful but also want to spend quality time with you.
Call them or meet them or drop them a text at least. Genuinely ask them what’s going on in their lives. You don’t want to miss out on being there for your special people!
Okay, going to call a couple of my friends over the weekend!
See you next week,
Love,
Simar
